A gigantic decorative light gate erected for Durga Puja celebrations at College Square in Cuttack partially collapsed on Wednesday afternoon, reportedly under the impact of heavy rain and strong winds. The structure was reported to be 30 to 40 feet in height.

The structure, built with bamboo poles in front of Ravenshaw University, had reportedly started tilting earlier in the morning before giving way later in the day.

No Casualties, Area Vacated In Advance

According to sources, no casualties were reported as the area was evacuated just moments in advance after reports of the gate leaning were received by the Twin City Commissionerate Police.
