NORTHPORT — As Northport seeks permission from state regulators to fix a dam on Northport creek, one group wants the village to consider removing it.

Leelanau Forum ran a full-page ad in a recent edition of the Leelanau Enterprise breaking down different options for maintaining, replacing or removing the dam at West Third Street and Park Drive. The nonprofit pulled numbers from a 2023 dam feasibility study and pointed out the numerous grants available for dam removal.
