MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Rockcastle County woman has been charged after human remains were found early Sunday outside a home in Mount Vernon.

Kentucky State Police said that authorities were called around 3 a.m. to Disputanta Road regarding a death investigation.

Deputies said they were already looking into a missing person complaint, which led them to a home in the area. Human remains were found under a tarp with other objects outside the home.

Tausha Flores Mejia, 40, was at the house and arrested. She faces a list of charges, including murder, abuse of a corpse, and receiving stolen property.

Autopsy results are still pending, and the identity of the deceased has not been made public.
