PAWTUCKET – You can’t keep a good team down for long, and the Pawtucket Schools football team certainly proved that in its home opener late last Friday night at Max Read Field.

After suffering a lopsided loss the previous weekend to West Warwick High, Pawtucket turned around its fortunes in its Division II matchup against Middletown and racked up 284 yards of offense and several big plays in rolling to a 41-3 victory.

“It was a great (way to) bounce back,” said Pawtucket head coach Jason DeLawrence, whose team is now 2-1. “I wanted to see how they were going to come out, and they did what we asked. I know Middletown is down this year, but (head coach Matt) Kestler is going to get them playing, He’s going to run good offensive sets, but tonight, we were able to shut him down.”
