INDIAN LAKE, Ohio (WDTN) -- Students and teachers at Indian Lake Middle School have quite the story to tell to the animal enthusiast in their lives.
Something you don't see everyday, let alone at school: Yaks.
The creatures were seen grazing outside the south end of the middle school. Local police were contacted to assist.
According to a social media post by Indian Lake Schools, five yaks escaped from Hidden Nook Ranch and ended up in the grasses near County Road 91.
Deputies and the owners of the ranch arrived, and while the owners attempted to take the yaks back, the animals had other plans, preferring to stay in the yard.
A group effort from school staff and deputies eventually led to their retrieval.
