ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) -- An Altoona man is behind bars after police allegedly found an illegal handgun after a dispute where he was accused of biting a woman.

Tyrone Smith, 29, was arrested Sept. 30 after police were dispatched to the 800 block of 8th Avenue at 9:51 a.m. in response to a physical disturbance.

Altoona police determined that Smith and his female partner were in an argument when Smith allegedly took her purse from her vehicle with the intent to throw it down a storm drain. When Smith began dropping the woman's items into a drain, the argument turned physical.

The woman allegedly had part of a fingernail ripped off and said Smith bit her.
