Pittsburgh Steelers safety Sebastian Castro is being signed off the team’s practice squad by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will join their active roster. Castro has to spend the next three weeks on the Buccaneers’ 53-man roster.

A pure nickel cornerback in college at Iowa, the Steelers moved Castro to safety full time due to concerns with his speed, but he took to it well.

Castro, 24, slotted into the safety competition but was never able to make a roster push after Chuck Clark was signed.. Along with his work at safety, he became a proficient special teamer to make the team. He joined Logan Lee, Yahya Black, and Kaleb Johnson as Iowa Hawkeyes on the team, and the Steelers have drafted two Hawkeyes this year.
