ATHENS, Ohio — The city of Athens celebrated the reopening of the historic Athens Armory on Tuesday after a $6.5 million redevelopment aimed at supporting small businesses and economic growth in the uptown district.

The project transformed the 111-year-old armory into a modern community hub with coworking and office space, an event venue, and new corporate offices for the Athens County Foundation. City officials said the redevelopment is a cornerstone of a broader plan to revitalize the Stimson Avenue corridor.
