A $2.5 billion settlement between the Federal Trade Commission and Amazon over its Prime program could put money back in your pocket in the coming months.

The agency alleged that the retail giant used “deceptive methods" to get customers to sign up for a Prime membership and then made it difficult for them to cancel it, the FTC said in a Sept. 25 press release announcing the settlement.

Amazon stated in a press release that it has “always followed the law” and denied any wrongdoing.

The settlement, announced just after the trial started, includes $1 billion in civil penalties and $1.5 billion in “consumer relief” payable to roughly 35 million customers.
