The city of Reno introduced a new dashboard Wednesday, Oct. 1 that monitors current and future housing needs. According to the dashboard, the city will need at least 15,000 new homes by 2035, including 9,000 affordable units.

A statement from the city said housing prices have risen 93 percent since 2016, showing the needs for more affordable housing options. The dashboard shows over 2,700 affordable units are in the pipeline.

The dashboard showcases how many homes are needed over the years; what types of housing is being built; demographic insights on houshold income, size and preferences; and benchmarks for renters and homeowners. The city council will use this data to make housing decisions.
