Authorities Wednesday were investigating a collision involving a bus and a vehicle in La Quinta that left one person hospitalized in critical condition.

The crash was reported shortly before 6:20 p.m. Tuesday at Washington Street and Eisenhower Drive, near Avenue 48, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of the bus and one passenger were taken to a hospital in stable condition, Vickers said.

The driver of the vehicle was extricated and airlifted to a hospital with critical injuries.

Four other passengers were reported inside the bus but it was unclear if they sustained any injuries.
