GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Happy Cat Café in Grand Rapids has hit a major milestone after adopting out its 1000th cat.
The café at 447 Division Ave. near Logan Street partners with Fig and Friends Pet Rescue to house adoptable cats that guests can play with. Since opening in 2017, the café has helped hundreds of cats find their new home.
Now, it's hit its goal of adopting out 1,000 cats, after the Parisian family came in and adopted Mountain, a black kitten. The family had recently lost one of their cats, and the other cat needed a companion.
After hitting the milestone, owner Katie Quarto said she's inspired to aim for the next one.
"Once you get to that goal of 1,000, it's like, what's holding you back from 2,000 or 5,000 or 10,000?" she said. "I don't see it ending, it's only spee
