SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County is offering prevention advice.
According to the FDOH news release, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in Florida.
Death rates from breast cancer have decreased by over 5% in the past 10 years, according to the release.
Officials said you can prevent breast cancer and death related to it by: • Getting routine screenings and self-breast exams • Scheduling a mammogram every two years if you are between the ages of 40 and 74 • Getting regular breast MRIs and mammograms every year if you are considered "at risk" • Live a healthy lifestyle by eating nutritious foods, avoiding alcohol and tobacco, exercising, and getting screenings • Breas
