TERREBONNE, La. (KLFY) -- A Houma man was arrested in connection with a domestic violence incident involving a woman allegedly being choked while holding an infant, deputies said.

Christopher Raheem Byrd, 33, of Houma was taken into custody and charged with home invasion, domestic abuse battery by strangulation, simple battery, and an unrelated warrant.

Deputies said they responded to a call at a residence in the 400 block of Westside Boulevard, after reports that a male suspect forcibly entered a woman’s apartment while she was sleeping with her infant on Monday.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a witness who said they observed a male suspect allegedly in the home, with his hands around the victim’s throat. The witness stated that she immediately confronted the suspect, who then alleg
