PORTLAND, Ore. — Extended evening pay-to-park hours in downtown Portland have been put on hold, just one month after they began.
Mayor Keith Wilson directed the Portland Bureau of Transportation on Tuesday to pause enforcement of the extended meter hours, saying the move is needed to support businesses and encourage evening activities as downtown continues to recover from the pandemic.
In August, PBOT announced it would begin enforcing extended hours on Sept. 2. Previously, meters were enforced from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays. The end time was pushed back to 10 p.m. every day.
Starting Oct. 15, meter enforcement will return to the original hours.
