A big 8th inning from the Cleveland Guardians was the difference in Game 2 of the American League Wild Card Series between the Guardians and Detroit Tigers.
Cleveland got the 6-1 win Wednesday afternoon at Progressive Field.
The best-of-three series is now tied 1-1 and sets up a winner-take-all Game 3 Thursday afternoon.
The Tigers lone run came in the 4th inning. It was originally 2 runs, but replay review showed Tigers base runner Zach McKinstry was tagged out at third base before the second Detroit runner crossed home plate.
Troy Melton gave up of 4 of Cleveland’s 8th inning runs.
Detroit starter Casey Mize pitched just three innings, giving up 1 run and striking out one batter.
The winner of Thursday’s game moves on to the ALDS to face the Seattle Mariners.
