A budding star on the Eagles’ defense was recognized by the NFL after a top performance.

Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after a signature showing in Philadelphia’s 31-25 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It was the first time Mitchell has earned the honor of NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Mitchell had five pass breakups and five tackles in the Week 4 victory at Raymond James Stadium.

Mitchell was particularly good against Bucs rookie Emeka Egbuka, allowing only two receptions for six yards across 22 matchups with the former Ohio State star.

Mitchell spearheaded a key effort by the Eagles’ defense, denying the Buccaneers’ second-half comeback attempt.
