PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Firefighters rescued a woman trapped inside a burning home on Robinhood Avenue late Saturday morning after battling through heavy smoke and flames, officials said.
In a press release posted Wednesday on social media, the Painesville Township Fire Department said initial reports indicated the home was heavily involved when crews arrived and that a female victim was still inside. Firefighters forced their way through the fire conditions and carried the unconscious woman to safety.
She and another civilian were taken to local hospitals for burns and smoke inhalation. Both are expected to recover, the department said.
Once the rescue was completed, firefighters extinguished the blaze without further incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
