BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - A local church's beloved organist has returned to playing after a two-year break and is performing a comedic piece in the upcoming concert series.
Tim Smith is the Organist and Music Director at Trinity Memorial Church in Binghamton. He started working there ten years ago to the day and spent eight years playing for the parishioners before taking a break.
Two years later, he returned and has been playing Sunday mornings the past couple of weeks. But this weekend is the first concert series, and Smith will be performing "Carnival of the Animals" by Camille (Sann Sawnz) Saint-Saens, along with poems to enhance the humor of the piece.
He says the piece is like Thanksgiving dinner, with so many different aspects to enjoy.
