Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced a mandatory fishing closure along a stretch of the Yampa River between the dam at Stagecoach State Park downstream to the lowermost park boundary, starting Oct. 2.

The closure is in response to low water flow out of Stagecoach Reservoir and is in effect 24-hours-a-day until it is lifted.

“We are asking for the public’s patience and cooperation,” Craig Preston, Stagecoach State Park manager, said in a statement . “It is very important that we do what we can to protect this unique fishery for today and into the future.”
