AINSWORTH, Iowa (KCRG) - Every October, you’d find Neal Megchelsen in the fields harvesting corn and soybeans.
But just 11 days ago, Megchelsen died.
“We got married 40 years ago, and we have corn, soybeans, cattle,” Megchelsen’s widow, Karen Megchelsen said.
That’s when the community started reaching out to see how they could help with the farm.
“The outpouring from the community to come in and harvest our crops is just greatly appreciated,” Megchelsen said.
About 30 people came out on Wednesday with their combines, tractors, and semi trucks to harvest all 300 acres of crops.
“It’s just really heartwarming to have the community come out and support you in such a difficult time,” Megchelsen said.
Megchelsen said her husband was always willing to help others like when he came to Ceda
