ROCKTON, Ill. — A ceiling collapse at an area high school caused students and staff to be evacuated on Wednesday.
Hononegah Community High School Principal Chad Dougherty said that on Oct. 1, a part of the ceiling fell in one of their classrooms. He said no one was hurt, but that students and staff in that section of the building were immediately evacuated for safety.
Classes continued in other areas of the school while the classroom affected was checked out by Hononegah's facility team and safety experts.
Principal Dougherty said they would not let students return to the area until it was cleared to be used again.
Principal Dougherty and Hononegah said they would give updates as soon as more information is available.
