WASHINGTON — Tru Fru, a popular brand of freeze-dried fruits snacks, issued over multiple products due to the potential presence of metal.
announced last week that third-party manufacturer Georgia Nut Company issued a voluntary recall for specific varieties of Tru Fru freeze-dried products, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The potential presence of metal may cause traumatic injury including laceration and perforation of tissues of the mouth, tongue, throat, stomach and intestines as well as damage to the teeth and gums, the FDA warned.
The recalled products were distributed nationwide via retail stores and online. Consumers may have purchased the impacted products at Albertson's, CVS Pharmacy, Food Lion, H-E-B, Hungryroot, Ingles Markets, Kroger, Stew Leonard's and Target.
