MANCHESTER, N.H. —
Upwards of $2.1 billion has been requested by nearly 2,000 people who claim that they were abused as children while in state care.
According to a WMUR-TV analysis of fund data, payments can range between $3,000 and $1.5 million, and in rare exceptions, for "egregious sexual abuse," up to $2.5 million.
Without interest, $210 million in claims has been agreed upon by all parties involved in the process, as well as by the victims of alleged abuse.
Data also show the breakdown of approximately how much claimants have received. It shows that 226 people have received up to $500,000, 158 people have been awarded between $500,000 and $1.5 million, and two people have received between $1.5 and $2.5 million.
