CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - In 1A and 2A girls tennis, Eastern Iowans showed up in a big way to get to the semifinals.

For 2A, Mackenzie Sagers of Cedar Falls is back in the semifinals after a missing last season due to injury. She’ll face Madeline Bellomy of Dubuque Senior.

In the doubles side, Cedar Rapids Washington is onto the final four. Their pairing had a tough road to get there.

Lily Belle Barker missed the past couple of years, with tennis being in the spring. For the state tournament overlapping with golf, she chose the course.

Her partner, Samantha Becker, has missed the past two state tournaments with knee injuries. Barker said they’re glad to be on this stage for the first time.
