On the first day of a federal government shutdown, Gov. Ned Lamont expressed confidence that Connecticut is positioned to continue services and programs - at least in the short-term.
“I think we’re in better shape than any other state in the country,” Lamont (D-Connecticut) said.

That includes funding for programs like SNAP and Women, Infants and Children, or WIC.
The federal government has funded SNAP for the month of October and Lamont said the state has a reserve account to continue WIC for the same time period.
“I want those young families, those young moms to know that your WIC card will continue to be good for the foreseeable future,” he said.
