We're learning more about the case against a funeral home operator accused of stealing money from clients. Police say he was spending the money at the casino and on trips.

Now, Philip Pietras faces charges in several communities.

“The trust is gone,” said Lieutenant Robert Marra, of the Vernon Police Department. “They have been a staple of the town of Vernon for a long time.”

Lt. Marra says they were unable to locate more than $300,000 from victims that they say was never put in an escrow account.

Police say $1.2 million was spent at Mohegan Sun from January 2021 to November 2024, and Foxwoods said he had wagered more than $8 million total.
