MACON, Ga. — As the federal government is in its first day of a shutdown , Georgia leaders are responding to the situation on social media.

The shutdown comes after Congress was in a deadlock over government spending programs, with a deadline for making a decision on Wednesday.

Senator Raphael Warnock posted a video on X saying that he would not support a budget "that will allow health insurance premiums to double for 1 million+ Georgians."

U.S. Representative Barry Loudermilk, who represents Georgia's District 11, said in his post that tours of government buildings in Washington D.C. are cancelled.
