A 50-year-old man wanted on several warrants in B.C. and Alberta was arrested after Oceanside RCMP linked him to a retail theft and found him with weapons and ammunition in violation of court conditions.

On Sept. 18, a north Qualicum retail store reported the theft of various items. Investigators identified a suspect who was believed to be living in a makeshift camp.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 26, Mark Calliou was arrested at his camp located off the Lockwood Forest Service Road in Whiskey Creek. A search of the camp uncovered a loaded firearm, ammunition, magazines, bows and body armour, according to police.

At the time of his arrest, Caillou had active arrest warrants in British Columbia and Alberta for drug, weapons, driving, property and failing to comply offences.
