URBANA, Ill. (WCIA)-- The Champaign County Sheriff's Office is saying goodbye to a longtime K-9 officer after nearly a decade of service.
The Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook Wednesday morning that it retired its K-9 Lesan. Over nine years old, Lesan started his service as a young puppy, but the Sheriff's Office said his retirement was well earned.
"He’s earned the right to sit in his rocking chair and dream of bones and chasing rabbits. He has worked hard for Champaign County residents, finding many illegal drugs and firearms on Champaign County roadways," the Sheriff's Office said. "Thank you for your service, Lesan, and happy retirement."
