PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WPRI) — A husband and wife are both facing charges after allegedly driving drunk in Portsmouth on the same night.
According to a police report from Sept. 20, officers saw a vehicle "committing multiple traffic violations" in the area of Melville Elementary School on West Main Road.
Police pulled the car over and the driver failed a field sobriety test. The woman was placed under arrest and charged with DUI (first offense).
Portsmouth police confirmed to 12 News that the woman's husband was also in the car. Officers gave him a ride home as he also appeared to be intoxicated.
According to the police report, officers were later dispatched to police headquarters for a "report of an intoxicated male attempting to pick up his wife who was arrested for DUI earlier in the nig
