PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island Energy, the state’s largest utility provider, has released a summer bill breakdown that gives customers a detailed look at how their electric bills were calculated.

Each bill is divided into supply and delivery charges. The supply portion reflects the direct cost of electricity passed on to consumers. The delivery charge includes several components, such as the company's profit and state-mandated fees that support green energy policies.

In the video above, 12 News consumer reporter Sarah Guernelli speaks with Rhode Island Energy President Gregg Cornett, who explains why the company is working to be more transparent about its billing.
