SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Flyers will notice construction on the south side of the existing terminal. It was the usual hustle and bustle at the Sioux Falls airport on Wednesday. From the first gate you get a good view of the heavy equipment.
Construction crews have broken up the 15-inch-thick concrete and are now removing the gravel and installing underground drainage and utilities. The new concourse will sit on this spot.
"We started several weeks ago, we are still in that kind of demolition phase," said Airport Executive Director Dan Letellier.
The new concourse will enable the airport to add more flights, potentially, and it will also have a direct impact on flyers waiting to board their plane, offering more seating next to their gate. Some of the larger planes coming to Sioux Fall
