BOSTON (WWLP) - After 41 years in prison, Edward Wright's Springfield murder conviction was overturned. On Wednesday, he spoke out on the State House steps.
When Edward Wright was 22 years old in 1984, he was convicted of murdering his friend, 24-year-old Penny Anderson.
Earlier this year, his conviction was overturned by a superior court. Wright and his lawyers say he was wrongfully convicted.
"I went to trial thinking that the truth was going to come out, and they would go after the guy who actually killed my friend. That didn't happen," Wright said to a modest crowd.
