BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Capital Area Autism Network is working to bridge the gap between families who have neurodivergent kids and local resources.
Roughly 34,000 children in Louisiana are diagnosed with autism. One of them is Christina Cedotal’s son.
“We got the diagnosis early like most do, and I’m retired now so I use that opportunity to learn as much as I can about what’s available,” said Cedotal.
She said it has not been easy finding all the resources her son has needed over the years. It’s something Drew Walker, Executive Director for Capital Area Autism Network, realized was true for many local families. That’s why he’s hosting the first State of Neurodiversity in Baton Rouge Conference.
