BETSY LAYNE, Ky. (WYMT) - One Floyd County elementary school is rallying behind a beloved educator as she battles breast cancer, encouraging the community to go pink in her honor.
Andrea Humphries is the assistant principal at Betsy Layne Elementary School, where she has devoted her career to educating and leading young minds.
“She knows every student by name and she’s always supported our staff. And she just has a way of making everyone feel valued,” said Asst. Principal Brent Hamilton.
When her colleagues learned Humphries was diagnosed with breast cancer, they wanted to show her the same love and support she always spreads.
“It’s been very hard for everyone. We’ve just been, you know, pouring out, love, pouring out prayers for her,” said teacher Taylor Akers.
