PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The gates of the Grand Canyon National Park are open, it’s mostly un-staffed. Volunteers are helping keep the conservancy gift shop open and some bathrooms are open as well.

Unlike the last federal shutdown seven years ago, the state is not picking up the tab this time.

The last time the federal government shutdown, was for 34 days from December 2018-January 2019. Then Governor Doug Ducey funded the Grand Canyon during that time with a price tag of $64,000 a week.

Governor Hobbs says Washington is playing politics--and she refuses to play ball.
