PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A Priceville officer has been fired from the department after a police chase in September that ended in a crash, killing a teenager.

Garry Chapman's attorney, Scott Morro, said the former officer was fired unfairly.

Morro told News 19 on Wednesday that Chapman worked in drug interdiction. He said those officers frequently make traffic stops trying to intercept drugs before they make it to their destination, sometimes leading to chases.

"He's been encouraged to do drug interdiction and to be assertive," Morro said. "Because of this tragic outcome, he's being abandoned.
