SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Wednesday marked the first day of the new federal fiscal year, and therefore the first day that public broadcasting outlets, such as South Dakota Public Broadcasting, stopped receiving federal funding.
The folks at SDPB expected a strong push to help keep operations stable and business as usual. And so far, that’s been the case.
However, the understanding is that funding cannot maintain this pace forever, and planning for a return to reality remains the challenge.
Ryan Howlett, the CEO of Friends of SDPB, said they’ve raised $1.6 million more at this point in the year, compared to last year.
