VERMILLION, S.D. (KTIV) - It’s Dakota Days Spirit Week at the University of South Dakota, and to celebrate hundreds of students decided to donate their time and give back to people experiencing food insecurity.
For the second year, the University of South Dakota partnered with “Feed the Funnel” to pack meals for people in need.
Hundreds of USD students took part in the event and packed 50,000 meals that’ll be donated to food pantries, domestic violence shelters, and warming shelters in Vermillion, Yankton, Sioux City, and Sioux Falls.
“I know all food pantries in the area, some have empty shelves for meals like this. They have some of those quick meals, but they don’t have something that’s an actual meal, that has all of the components for a nutritious meal,” said April Lee, Assistant D
