CLEVELAND -- The Detroit Tigers wasted chance after chance in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series on Wednesday, and now their season is down to its last chance.

The Tigers stranded a season-high 15 runners, the most in a postseason game in franchise history, surpassing the 14 they left on base in Game 3 of the 1984 World Series . No team has stranded more than 15 in a postseason game since the Angels did it in Game 2 of the 2009 ALCS .

They finished 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position, missing opportunity after opportunity in a frustrating 6-1 loss to the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field .
