Since the scary injury in the first half of a Sept. 20 loss at USC , the news continues to be positive for the fifth-year senior starting linebacker. So good, he may not even miss a game with the Spartans (3-1, 0-1), coming off a bye, playing at Nebraska (3-1, 0-1) on Saturday.
“He was able to do a little bit of work actually during the bye week and has been practicing this week,” coach Jonathan Smith said during his weekly radio show Wednesday night, “so if it all continues to look good – I know he feels good – a pretty good chance to see him on Saturday.”
The injury to Matthews came in the second quarter of a 45-31 loss at USC and resulted in him being strapped to a backboard a
