The Palo Verde Healthcare District officially filed for bankruptcy on Thursday, Sept. 30, citing it a necessary step in stabilizing financial struggles and preserving services at Blythe's at-risk-of-closing hospital.

The move comes a week after the district board authorized voting for relief under Chapter 9 bankruptcy. As of Tuesday, Sept. 23, the district had six days of cash on hand, according to a press release.
