Airports across America are bracing for the impact of the U.S. government shutdown, including Louisville's.
TSA employees at Muhammad Ali International Airport were working without pay on Wednesday.
While things were flowing normally at the airport Wednesday afternoon, TSA said travelers could face longer wait times nationwide.
The Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration define most of their employees as essential, requiring them to work even when the government closes.
This means TSA employees who screen passengers, air traffic controllers, and more are expected to keep working despite not being paid.
