LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Construction in downtown Louisville is causing some frustrations for drivers as crews advance the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Main Remade Corridor Improvement Project, an effort aimed at improving safety and accessibility by converting portions of Main Street to two-way traffic.
As part of the work, the existing right two turn lanes are being replaced with a single right turn lane on the Clark Memorial Bridge's mainline Second Street approach, and the sidewalk is being extended.
Officials say the changes are designed to improve safety by shortening the crosswalk, which will shorten the time pedestrians spend in the roadway and improve visibility for drivers and people crossing the street.
