AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A local nonprofit is giving men experiencing homelessness a chance to rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.
Bridging the Gaps recently secured a 20-room motel known as “Charlie’s Place.”
The Vice President and Treasurer of Bridging the Gaps Shane Jones says they named it after Charlie Thrasher, a friend who passed away in a car accident.
“He was dedicated to our cause and helping the homeless and he passed. We auctioned off a truck at our fundraiser and on the back of that truck it said, ‘The Old Charlie,’ and we did not know that until it was getting ready to be auctioned off,” said Jones. “It was amazing. It was definitely something from God, and we decided that we were going to earmark the money that truck raised to go towards Charlie’s Place.”
