CARVER, Minn. — The Minnesota Twins are starting the offseason with a community service project.
The team and staff are working to restore an eroding shoreline at Creekside Park in Carver.
The Twins teamed up with Great River Greening to plant shrubs and native vegetation. Experts say this restoration work will greatly reduce damaging sediment and pollution flowing into the water.
"We do have some main roads and industry around us. So having this natural buffer is going to protect our waterway that we're all reliant upon in addition to having some wonderful biodiversity to this site," said Brennan Blue with Great River Greening.
All of this is part of a multi-year, multi-site collaboration to protect Minnesota's lakes and rivers. Future projects are already planned for Mendota Heights,
