The Newark Housing Authority (NHA) must conduct lead testing and abatement at the housing authority’s 11 pre-1978 properties, home to about 5,500 city residents, where lead-based paint has been found.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) reached concurrent settlements with the NHA on Monday, Sept. 29, to correct violations of federal lead-based paint regulations and improve protections for residents.
NHA’s 11 pre-1978 properties where lead testing and renovations are required include Pennington Court NJ2-002, John W. Hyatt Court NJ2-007, Joseph P. Bradley Court NJ2-014, Stephen Crane Elderly NJ2-016, Stephen Crane Elderly NJ2-22C, Stephen Crane Elderly NJ2-22D, Otto E. Kretchmer Elderly NJ2-017, Otto E. Kretchmer Elderly NJ
