ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - One of the best traditions in Cenla sports will take center stage on Thursday night, when the Buckeye Panthers play in the Squirrel Bowl, the team’s annual Thursday night game on the eve of squirrel hunting season.
For the second straight year, the Menard Eagles are on the other side of the matchup. The Panthers had a late rally last season for a 27-20 win - a result still on the mind of Menard.
“Anytime you lose the year before, you want to go into the next year with that,” Menard Football head coach David Perkins said. “And it’s good bulletin board material if you want to call it that.”
The Eagles are off to a strong start this season with a 3-1 record led by their defense. In each of their three wins, Menard hasn’t allowed double digit points.
