OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - This three bedroom, two and a half bath home on North Court Street Ottumwa was built by students.
From foundation to finished walls Indian Hills Community College students brought the Craftsman Style home to life.
“Everybody who started they have never done construction before so there was a whole in the ground, and then there was some concrete and some wood and then all of a sudden, they looked around, and it was a house, and they were kind of blown away. They were like we did this we built a house, were 18-19 years old,” said instructor Micah Zook.
Micah Zook said the program is designed for students to learn beyond the classroom- it’s hands on work at the site to ensure they know all aspects of the trade.
